Why Love Found Me

When two people meet, but have never actually met, there are all sorts of questions, mystery and moments of anticipation.  I found that meeting someone online is more meaningful. I have heard all the horror stories, but I trusted God.  See, God has always been so good to me. Because all my online conversations were centered around struggles and how God brought me through them, I was able to trusted God’s plan to meet a faith-filled gentleman, who appreciated my struggles and did not judge me.

Despite my family’s and friends’ warnings, I took a risk and knew in my heart, my new friend was worth meeting. You are probably wondering how I knew he was a good man.  Romans 8:28 says it well:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

That’s exactly how my new found relationship transpired. He is a very strong man of faith, Catholic faith. He is not afraid to express his faith and his love for God.  I, too, had once again, found my strength and confidence in prayer and the Eucharist and was in love with my Catholic faith once more.

My friend and I were on the same level of faith and we knew our love for Our Lord was important to both of us. This was the topic of all our conversations before actually meeting. We exchanged messages and phone calls every day until the day we met. Everyday, we gave thanks to God for the opportunity to love again. To love with our hearts, mind and especially our souls. If you know someone loves God so much, you fall in love with their heart, mind and soul. How beautiful is that?!

I made sure God was the reason we met. I have always known that God works for the good of those who love him. And I quickly learned that my friend and I love God above everything!  So why would I doubt that God would not grant my heart’s wishes for love.  My friend and I talked about God’s purpose in our lives and we both came to realize we shared the same desires – to live our life in God’s grace and be His servants at all times. To hold strong to our moral standards and convictions and teach our children the importance of our faith.

For this reason, I know Love found me because God works for the good of those who love Him. God’s blessings have always conquered my worst days. All the hurt and disappointment, all the anger and frustration, and all the heartaches and mental chaos are reasons for God’s goodness to emerge. The smallest blessings will be found in the greatest traumatic experiences. God has allowed Love to find me, and my blessings will be great because God has gifted me a man of his own likeness!
